Mark Weakland is an outstanding educator, author and national presenter. A seasoned teacher and literacy specialist, Mark brings extensive K-2 writing instruction experience. As a reading consultant and instructional coach, Mark understands firsthand the realities and challenges teachers face in striving to help children learn to write, read and spell. He is dedicated to helping all students, especially those who struggle with writing and reading, succeed – and to equipping their teachers with cutting-edge, highly effective literacy practices. The author of more than 85 books for children, Mark has also written multiple teacher resource books, including ones specific to learning difficulties, dyslexia, and the Science of Reading, including Applying the Science of Reading (ASCD, 2024) and The Classroom Teachers' Guide to Supporting Students with Dyslexia (Routledge, 2026). He is also the author of Enhance Your Writing Instruction: Practical Applications of the SCIENCE OF WRITING (Grades K-2), the extensive digital resource handbook you will receive at the seminar.
