Who is BER?

Bureau of Education & Research (BER) is the leading provider of professional development training for educators in North America.

Founded by educators in 1976, the Bureau has grown to provide national and regional training programs across the entire United States. The Bureau is especially proud of its outstanding presenters, all of whom have extensive practical experience in their content areas and many of whom are national and international leaders in their respective fields.

What are the hours of your programs?

Start times are listed on our website for each PD event.

Start and end times are as follows:
All Live Online Seminars are scheduled 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM in the time zone indicated. Check in 15 minutes prior. Registrants will be sent login information by email four days before their Live Online Seminar.
All In-Person Seminars are scheduled 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM local time. Check-in is 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM local time.

How do I get access to my BER Live Online Program?

You will receive an email with access instructions four calendar days prior to the event. This will be sent to the email address included with your registration.

If your class is scheduled to start this morning, please give us a call after 5:30 AM Pacific time: 800-735-3503.

Otherwise, you can request access to your event by submitting a request.

How long do I have access to a Recorded Event?

You have 90-day online access from date of purchase to complete the Recorded Version of a BER event.

What types of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available at your programs?

By attending a Live Online, In-Person, or Recorded Version event, you can receive a Certificate of Participation that may be used to verify five continuing education hours. In addition, state-approved CEUs are available in most states. For more details, visit our CEUs page. Options and requirements vary by state. Call us with questions at 800-735-3503.

I would like to take a BER PD Event for Graduate-Level Credit. What do I do?

All BER PD Events and On-Demand Courses are eligible for graduate-level credit. Up to four semester hours of graduate-level professional development credit are available through University of Massachusetts Global upon completion of follow-up practicum projects and payment of an additional fee of $70 per credit. You will need to attend the entire BER PD event. You may register within 30 days and the final report is due within 6 months of having attended the PD Event. May another person substitute for me?

Substitution may be made at any time prior to the event. If you know prior to the day of the program, please give us a call and we will take care of it for you. Otherwise, just have your substitute let us know when checking in the morning of the event..

What should I do if I need to cancel my registration?

100% of your paid registration fee will be refunded if you can't attend and notify us at least 10 days before the seminar. Late cancellations made prior to the event date will be refunded less a $15.00 service fee. Substitutions may be made at any time without charge.

I am not able to attend the event. Would I be able to purchase the resource handbook without attending the event?

We are sorry, but resource handbooks are not available apart from event attendance, unless you purchase the Recorded Version (which is available for most one-day events and two-day institutes). Recorded Version events include full access to the digital resource handbook.

What should I do if adverse weather conditions are expected? Do you ever cancel the event?

Unfortunately, we sometimes cancel events if our instructor is unable to travel to the event site due to inclement weather or due to last minute travel problems.
If schools in your area are closed due to inclement weather, please check here the morning of the event before you leave home to confirm whether or not the event will be held. If the event is held and you are unable to attend due to the weather, we offer a full refund.

May I audiotape or videotape the event?

We are sorry that due to copyright issues we cannot give permission to record our events. However, most of our one-day programs and two-day institutes are also available as Recorded Version events. You can view all our Recorded Events here.

I need verification of my attendance to meet district and/or state requirements. How do I obtain verification?

Participants of Live Online and In-Person Seminars: Complete the End-of-Course evaluation provided at the end of the day within 30 minutes of issue to receive a Certificate of Participation that may be used to verify five continuing education hours per day of attendance. Your Certificate of Participation will be emailed within 10 business days of your event.

For those completing the Recorded Version online: Complete the end-of-course evaluation prior to the expiration of your 90-day access to receive a Certificate of Participation that may be used to verify five continuing education hours per day of attendance. Upon completion of the survey, you may access your Certificate of Participation directly through your online account.

When is my payment due?
