MARK WEAKLAND is an outstanding educator, author and national presenter. An experienced special education teacher and reading specialist, he has worked extensively with children diagnosed with dyslexia or thought to have dyslexia. As a reading consultant and instructional coach, Mark understands the realities and challenges that teachers face as they strive to help children with reading impairments. He is passionate about helping struggling learners and students with disabilities reach high levels of learning, as well as equipping their teachers with cutting-edge, highly effective literacy practices. Mark is the author of DYSLEXIA: Help Children Who Struggle to Successfully Read, Write and Spell, the extensive digital resource handbook you will receive at the seminar. The author of more than 75 books for children, Mark has also written five teacher resource books, including one that specifically addresses ways to prevent reading difficulties in young students: How to Prevent Reading Difficulties, PreK-3: Proactive Practices for Teaching Young Students to Read (Corwin, 2021).
