A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

Had anyone told me when I became an English teacher that I would be using Artificial Intelligence tools to level-up my practice many years later I wouldn't have believed them. But as I told my students just yesterday, the incredible thing about being a teacher is that it's never boring and always evolving!

I am so excited to share the best of what I've learned about maximizing the potential of AI as an English teacher. I've been using AI extensively, consistently, and daily for some time in my teaching practice. You'll soon see how these AI tools are full of surprises and potential to strengthen what we do. Whether you're chomping at the bit and ready to dive in or wishing the world was moving a bit slower, I know you'll leave this seminar feeling excited, equipped, and eager to bring AI into your own ELA classroom.

In our day together, we'll unpack the essentials and learn how to "chat well" with AI. We'll explore how to use AI tools in timesaving ways for curriculum design purposes, instructional planning, and assessment work. You'll also learn how to situate AI as a learning partner that deepens students' critical thinking, offers thoughtful feedback, and provides examples and invitations to learn on demand.

Our time will be largely devoted to the exploration of tangible tools and practical protocols that you will be able to use immediately the moment you return to your classroom. We'll also take care to explore potential pitfalls to avoid and solutions to ethical concerns regarding the use of AI-powered tools in the ELA classroom.

I can't wait to help you take full advantage of the incredible opportunities that AI offers all of us who love teaching secondary ELA students. Bring your ideas, your questions, and your worries with you. We'll workshop them together. See you soon!

Sincerely,
Angela Stockman

P.S. You will leave this seminar energized and excited with many new and effective ways to strengthen your ELA students' learning and enhance your own productivity using AI.
