A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
Being a school-based practitioner can be fun and exciting. It also feels like it has never been more challenging. In my 29 years of practice as an Occupational Therapist, I have witnessed much change in our practice. It can feel overwhelming with increased demands to provide evidence-based treatment and produce results. The demands and expectations for OT services in the academic environment have dramatically increased in recent years. Now more than ever we school-based practitioners are juggling a multitude of challenges to consistently o?er best practices.
While we want to provide the best therapeutic services to students every day and address the concerns of families, teachers, and school administrators, we also know that resources and time are limited. That is why the focus of this one-day seminar is on practical and impactful current strategies to strengthen your school-based OT program. The content will embody AOTA's Vision 2025, IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) guidelines, while providing you with practical, doable strategies you can use immediately. The implementation of these critical guidelines for everyday OT practice is fundamental to our success as school-based therapists, and I am excited to share with you my best ideas and strategies for bringing this vision to life in your practice.
Remembering that we have specific talents and skills that make us unique is key to being successful in our practice. My goal is to help enhance your practice results and performance by putting the current best-practices into e?ect— to cross the bridge from theory to impactful therapy. You will learn timesaving strategies that will ensure compliance with documentation requirements while e?ectively monitoring student progress and enhancing the e?cacy of your interventions.
Our occupational therapy services are of vital importance to the students we serve. I look forward to the opportunity to share what I've learned at this one-day seminar.
