A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
A school nurse's day rarely goes exactly the way we expect it to! We need to be ready on a daily basis to meet the needs of our students – from the simple need for connection to a full-blown medical emergency. As a school nurse and school nursing leader for over 30 years, I'd like to say I've seen it all, but every day as a school nurse brought something new and unanticipated. And we need to be ready for it all!
Staying current in our practice is vital. And in school nursing, the knowledge base is huge! I've always believed that we need to know "something about everything!" As I was moving through one day with my stethoscope around my neck, a young student asked me, "Do you know how to use that thing? Are you a REAL nurse?" I replied, "I'm EVERY kind of nurse all rolled into one!"
Join me for a day of valuable information about asthma, allergies and anaphylaxis. I'll help you be ready to respond in a clinically sound and compassionate way to students who experience the daily impacts of these health issues as well as be prepared for any possible emergencies. We'll talk about prevention in order to minimize school emergencies, but we always need to be ready for anything. Know that you're not alone in what you do – we'll collaborate and share ideas and strategies to make you love what you do more than ever.
I'll provide content in an interactive format and with time for you to collaborate online with fellow school nurses. I've also prepared an extensive digital resource handbook for you to keep to refer to after our time together. We'll work to increase your confidence as you deliver targeted care and help you to manage the unexpected!
Sincerely,
Sally Schoessler
P.S. I know your time is valuable, so I'll pack the day with practical strategies you can immediately implement.
