A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
As a secondary English/Language Arts teacher, I am sure that like me, you understand the demands, challenges, and joys of a modern classroom. From meeting standards to building a classroom community, the requirements of an English/Language arts teacher have never been higher. In this seminar, I will work with you as a classroom teacher, as someone who walks the same path you do. We work toward deeper conversations with our students, juggle grading, and integrate authentic learning opportunities into our curriculum–big expectations!
In my seminar, I will provide honest, practical practices and strategies that have worked for me, someone who has taught ELA for over twenty years. And, I will also share where I have missed the mark so that we can learn together. My goal is for you to leave my seminar with practical tools to implement tomorrow, with ideas to move you forward, and with a big picture to inspire you for years. You will not be revamping your entire practice. Rather, you will be taking applicable ideas and making them your own.
Keeping in mind the rigor of language arts as well as our busy teacher lives, I developed this seminar to cover all pieces that make up an ELA classroom, from engaging young readers and writers, building a classroom community centered on literacy and education, to balancing expectations as an English teacher. As a classroom teacher myself, I understand the importance of quality PD, and I have designed our session to be realistic and impactful.
Sincerely,
Lauralee Moss
P.S. This seminar is filled with practical, easy-to-implement ideas that you can use immediately in your ELA classroom.
