A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
If you've ever watched your students struggle to make sense of fractions, you are not alone. For many students, fractions feel confusing and abstract, and are known to be one of the biggest barriers to student success in upper elementary math. Fractions are often pointed to as the beginning of math anxiety. So how do we make fractions fun?
In this idea-packed seminar, I'll share dozens of my classroom-tested strategies that make fractions click. We'll explore the best ways to build fraction sense from the ground up— starting with visual models, student-friendly vocabulary, and real-world and literacy connections. You'll learn how to introduce and better reinforce key concepts using number lines, manipulatives, games, and digital tools. I'll also demonstrate how to connect fractions to division, decimals, percentages, and even algebraic thinking— while strengthening your students' foundational number sense and problem-solving skills.
Please join me for this energizing one-day seminar designed specifically for teachers in grades 3–6. Whether you're using a traditional math curriculum or supplementing with your own materials, you'll leave with a toolkit of ready-to-use strategies that make fractions more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all your students— including English Learners and students receiving intervention support. I can't wait to share these ideas with you!
Sincerely,
Heidi Sabnani
P.S. You will also receive the digital resource I wrote specifically for this FRACTIONS seminar that is filled with all the ideas and strategies shared and discussed during our day together, and more!
