A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
Like you, I understand the importance of reading. We all know readers are much more successful in school and on standardized achievement tests. More importantly, readers can see themselves in the situations and in the characters of books. Books allow readers to experience both a window and a mirror into their worlds.
As school librarians, our mission extends far beyond the stacks of books and the quiet corners of our libraries. We are integral partners in the educational journey of our students, and to truly support their growth, we must also focus on empowering our classroom teachers. The key to success lies in collaboration, communication, and customization. I have designed this seminar with that in mind.
Join me for a full day of practical strategies to better support the classroom teachers you work with. My goal is to share with you how to actively engage with teachers, understanding their curriculum and instructional goals, and then curate resources and lessons that seamlessly integrate with their plans. By providing them with not only the right books but also strategies for enhancing their teaching, we become valuable allies in their efforts to educate and inspire our students.
We will also discuss ways to use the best books with classrooms and students. We will combine reading with the best websites and apps you can use, including the latest AI tools, to engage all of your readers and learners. I will share my best strategies for collaborating with classroom teachers. You will leave with dozens of use tomorrow ideas.
Let's remember that our library is not just a space filled with books; it's a hub for creativity, inquiry, and lifelong learning that can truly elevate the entire educational experience. Together, we can make a profound impact on the academic journey of our students and the success of our schools.
Sincerely,
Karen Scott
