About the Instructor – Carol Burmeister

Uniquely Qualified Instructor

With over thirty years of experience in education, Carol Burmeister brings to a dynamic presentation her cumulative experiences as a paraprofessional, general and special education teacher and program specialist. She has worked with students with unique needs including those with cognitive, behavioral, communication, and autism spectrum disorders. Her vast experience includes providing consultative services to school districts and county offices of education on how to best meet the needs of special education students, from preschool through high school, in all educational environments.

She also provides staff development to paraprofessionals, general and special education teachers, school psychologists, administrators, and related service providers on research-based interventions. These experiences have led to a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by paraprofessionals. She puts theory into practical application with strategies she has used throughout her career. Carol is the author of Maximizing the Effectiveness of PARAPROFESSIONALS in Inclusive Settings, the extensive resource handbook each participant will receive at the seminar.
