Uniquely Qualified Instructor
Wendy Niskanen brings over 17 years of dedicated service and leadership to school nursing. Her work with families in poverty and homeless students early in her career started a lifelong interest in the impact of trauma on health and learning. She brings passion and expertise to the field of behavioral health in school nursing practice, and has developed in-service programs to create a trauma-sensitive culture in schools.
An experienced educator and respected school nurse leader, Wendy is a member of her state's School Nurse Advisory Group, and a board member of her state's School Nurses' Association. She is a frequent state and national school nursing presenter. Her current work centers on ensuring school nurses can access up-to-date guidance and trainings, and on bringing school nurses together to share peer support and to develop resources for evidence-based and equity-focused practice.
Wendy is also the author of SCHOOL NURSES: Practical Strategies for Proactive Behavioral Health Services, the extensive digital resource handbook you will receive at the seminar.
