About the Instructor – Mark Weakland

Mark Weakland is an outstanding educator and presenter with extensive experience working with teachers and children. His experience as a special education teacher, a reading specialist, a reading consultant, and reading coach enables him to uniquely understand the realities and challenges of helping children learn to read and write well. He is passionate about helping struggling learners and students with disabilities reach high levels of learning, and equipping their teachers with cutting-edge, highly effective literacy practices.

Mark is the author of the teacher resource books Super Spellers: Seven Steps to Transforming Your Spelling Instruction (Stenhouse, 2017) and Super Core! Turbocharging Your Basal Reading Program (International Reading Association, 2014), as well as more than 50 books for children. Mark is also the author of Super Spellers: Transform Your Spelling Instruction for Powerful Reading and Writing, the extensive resource handbook each participant will receive at the seminar.
