A Message From Your Seminar Leader, Kathy Morris
“If I could, I would give you wings” is a meaningful phrase from a lullaby that I sang to my sons when they were young. I did not realize at the time that two of my sons would have disabilities (autism and cerebral palsy). Even though I was a special education teacher at the time, it is a different ballgame when they are your own children. It has been my life work to help educators and others understand how to successfully utilize strategies and techniques to reach our students with learning disabilities. I will share dozens of these ideas and strategies with you at this seminar.
During the day I will give you practical ideas for working with students with Asperger’s Syndrome, high-functioning autism and other social-cognitive processing differences. Modifications and accommodations for academic programming, as well as cues for appropriate behaviors will be shared through video clips, role plays and hands-on examples. All these strategies will be ready for you to use the very next day with your students.
