We live in an age of assessment, ranging from the informal assessments you make from responses your students contribute during a class discussion to the mandated tests that are given by your school, district, and state. Writing acts as the cornerstone of much of our assessment process. And-I would argue-as well it should.

In today’s classrooms, our students, more than ever before, need  to be able to communicate with skill and precision in all their subjects. Writing, in our modern curriculum, is no longer the sole property of the language arts classroom. It has become a critical learning tool in all content areas. And as such, our classroom instruction is monitored and driven by how we assess how well our students are doing. Hence the need for easy and practical assessment tools and strategies. This seminar will give you strategies, methods, techniques and ready-to-use handouts to accomplish just that.
