A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

My experience working with regular education and special education students in grades K-5 has highlighted the indisputable need for students to be able to read. Yet as we all know, there remain a number of students who struggle to master the essential reading skills they need to be successful. That’s why I’m so impressed with many of the new technology tools, especially the iPad, and the growing number of outstanding apps and quality online resources that are available to help these students learn to read. Using an array of apps for the iPad, I know that discouraged students can become motivated, energized and fully engaged in learning how to read. It is my pleasure to share with you the wealth of technology tools and apps that enable students to learn the basic skills they need to become readers – tools that students love to use!

Whether you work in a regular education or special education classroom, Title I, or as a reading specialist, I know you’ll discover valuable tools and practical strategies to use in your own classroom to help students attain the skills required by state standards. The iPad is a very hands-on, easy-to-use tool that provides us with excellent options for reaching and engaging our struggling readers in highly effective, non-threatening ways. I am very excited to spend a day with you demonstrating the practical uses of the iPad and sharing dozens of apps perfect for you and your students.
During this seminar, our focus will be on strategies for discovering, managing and using apps for iPads to improve reading for struggling students.
