A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

As librarians, we are charged with ensuring all of our students develop authentic research skills. It seems that teaching information literacy changes daily, but at its core, students must critically think about the sources they are using and the information they learn.

At this seminar, I will identify the key issues facing our students and schools and how we, as school librarians, can provide the best support. Research mastery will be defined and then the fun will begin. I will show you a variety of proven lesson designs, library spaces, cutting-edge technology tools, and more to power your information literacy instruction. We will also discuss how you are curating resources and designing your webpages (no webpage design experience is required). Please bring a mobile device if possible, as we will be jumping into many online resources.

Ultimately, our role is to ensure that all students leave capable of finding and using credible resources in their everyday lives. To do this, we must provide reliable resources and a variety of experiences tailored to their needs and preferences.

Whether you work in an elementary, middle, or high school library, you will leave this seminar with the motivation, strategies and resources to begin or enhance your information literacy instruction.

Sincerely,
Caitlin Bennett

P.S. This seminar will empower you to use today’s tools to meet the needs of tomorrow’s researchers.
