Kerry Howland is an outstanding presenter and highly experienced Speech-Language Pathologist. She has worked extensively with children who have language and reading disorders. Kerry brings a unique perspective to the seminar, having served as a special education teacher in addition to her experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in both the clinical and school settings. She holds a B.A. in Special Education, a M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience.
Kerry is currently a clinical faculty member in the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences department at Boston University. In addition, she directs a prevention program for young children who are at risk for language and literacy problems in collaboration with the Boston Public Schools. She has worked on reading skills with students of all ages, from preK through college level and conducts research into word recognition skills in students with dyslexia.
Kerry presents nationally on the topics of reading disorders in children, phonological awareness and executive control processes. She is the author of Highly Effective Strategies to Help SLPs Support Students with Reading and Language Deficits (Grades PreK-12), the resource handbook each participant will receive at her seminar.
