Darla Wood-Walters is an acclaimed kindergarten teacher, author and outstanding internationally recognized presenter with a passion for learning and teaching. Experienced as a kindergarten teacher, special education teacher, speech and language clinician, tutor, teacher trainer, program developer, and writing coach, Darla brings more than 36 years of experience working with students and teachers. She is able to recognize popular trends in teaching that come and go, as well as shifts that build on what is tried and true and move education forward. Embracing the question daily, “what am I doing and why”, Darla’s work with students and teachers is purposeful, research and experience based.
Through extensive work in New Zealand, Canada and the U.S., Darla has gained insight and knowledge on how to incorporate powerful learning opportunities into programs for young students. She is the recipient of a Rotary International Scholarship for Teachers, a Distinguished Educator Award and an Excellence in Kindergarten Literacy Award. She is the author of many extensive, comprehensive resource handbooks, including 101 Strategies, Activities and Resources to Help Your Kindergartners Become Successful Readers and Writers, that each participant will receive at the seminar.
