A Message From Your Seminar Leader
Dear Colleague:
As I visualize your classroom, I imagine it is like mine. I see a classroom full of eager and diverse learners coming to us with a wide range of experiences, competencies and behaviors that can impact their social and academic success. I know you are just as passionate as I am about making an optimum day of learning for each of them, but previously used strategies that may not be working with your students with special needs can sometimes feel frustrating.
I’ve come to learn as educators we possess a great deal of knowledge about effective strategies, but we often do not know how best to match these to the specific needs of our students with special needs. In my extensive work as both a teacher and consultant, I have learned firsthand many effective strategies and approaches for supporting students in grades K-12 who have special needs. It is my goal to share with you the best of what I and other respected experts in the field have found to be effective.
I want to add practical, classroom-proven strategies to compliment your existing repertoire of effective approaches and resources. I will share with you new ways to tweak and adjust the approaches, interventions and strategies you may already use. Together, we will explore dozens of highly effective strategies to better address the unique learning profile of students with special needs.
We will explore a framework for matching strategies to student needs. We will look at methods to strengthen the impact of instruction. In my experience, strengthening students’ working memory, attention, self-regulation and executive functioning skills are the critical elements for our students with special needs to be successful.
Please join me for a learning-rich day on this incredibly important topic! I cannot wait to share my resources and knowledge with you!
Sincerely,
Linda J. Davidson
P.S. Students who have special needs need YOU, and they need you to respond with a variety of evidence-based approaches. I hope you will take this opportunity to gain these essential, highly practical and easy-to-implement tools.
