As I visualize your classroom, I imagine it is like mine. I see a classroom full of eager and diverse learners coming to us with a wide range of experiences, competencies and behaviors that can impact their social and academic success. I know you are just as passionate as I am about making an optimum day of learning for each of them, but previously used strategies that may not be working with your students with special needs can sometimes feel frustrating.

I’ve come to learn as educators we possess a great deal of knowledge about effective strategies, but we often do not know how best to match these to the specific needs of our students with special needs. In my extensive work as both a teacher and consultant, I have learned firsthand many effective strategies and approaches for supporting students in grades K-12 who have special needs. It is my goal to share with you the best of what I and other respected experts in the field have found to be effective.
