A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

These are challenging times for teachers, especially for those of us who teach world languages. We are required to participate in a myriad of local, state and national initiatives. There is always new technology to explore. We spend a lot of time communicating with parents and assisting individual students. In times of financial insecurity, we must even advocate for our own world language programs.

In the midst of all these important concerns, it can be difficult to find the time and energy to concentrate on the most important thing we do: actually teach our language! That’s why I designed this practical seminar – to provide 101 outstanding tools to enhance our day-to-day teaching and to help us focus anew on the essentials of reaching our students.

The 101 classroom-proven, practical techniques in this seminar can be used immediately in your world language classes. Since you will actually participate in most of the activities, you’ll see how they can be used to better channel the energy of your antsy 4th hour class or to motivate the sleepy students in your 1st hour group!

What are the 101 best strategies? This seminar is designed to emphasize topics that teachers most often request: practical tips and techniques for staying in the target language and for creating a supportive classroom based on recent brain research; easy-to-implement activities that promote lively, engaged learning; and strategies that really work for teaching vocabulary and language structures. Also included are new strategies for student communication in the interpersonal, non-rehearsed mode. In addition, we’ll explore technological tools, websites and apps that enable our “millennial generation” learners to create and interact.

All of these topics – and the 101 strategies that support them – will leave you re-energized and excited. Whether your students are ten or eighteen, you’ll leave with a plethora of resources to enhance your teaching and, most importantly, your students’ learning!

I look forward to spending the day with you!

Sincerely,
Alice Kosnik

P.S. Dress comfortably for a fast-paced, highly interactive, enjoyable learning experience that will give you 101 outstanding strategies you can use immediately! We will have an exciting – and possibly surprising – day of “learning by doing.”
