A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

Good strategies and ideas stand the test of time. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) holds a well-earned reputation as a methodology for behavior change. Although the basic principles have remained the same, the widespread application of ABA for individuals with special needs to whole class and school-wide has proven to be a useful tool for managing and teaching behaviors in both special education and general education settings. Effective teachers from all domains create systems based on the ABA principles: teach the expectations, modify for success, prevent problematic behaviors from occurring, observe, reward, and consequent. Each generation of teachers rediscover these principles through their own trial and error experiences, but many of us are in need of practical ways to implement the ABA approach in today’s changing classrooms. This seminar is designed to do just that!

I am excited to spend the day sharing dozens of practical ways to create the best behavior management system and learning environment possible using the time-proven components of ABA. I’ve developed this seminar with a new millennium mindset: using technology (free apps and activities); addressing current behavioral issues such as melt downs, blow-ups, anxiety, and anger management; and providing you with low-prep, next-day ideas for teaching the components of social-emotional learning.

You will leave with a tool kit filled with strategies for developing classroom and individual behavior management plans to create learning environments that support and teach pro-social skills and promote self-management through the use of evidence-based programs. You’ll also gain simple, yet highly effective ways for identifying, recording, evaluating, and changing social and academic behaviors.
