A Message From Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

As I reflect back on my own growth in the use of technology, I still marvel to think that I only knew how to use Word Perfect 2.0 when I was assigned the role of Technology Chairperson for my school. With little knowledge but a lot of belief in opportunity, I forged ahead to ensure that the use of technology would become closely integrated with the instruction of the many content-area standards for which we are all responsible.

Since that time, I have focused a great deal of my energy into looking for and developing successful, seamless ways to bring the technology tools of today into classrooms. I hope to end the practice of “technology as an add-on curriculum” and enable others to use technology tools as readily as an overhead, pencil or crayon in their classroom.

I am excited to spend the day with you, sharing iPad knowledge and skills, other mobile and digital tools, multiple apps and websites, plus management strategies, proven classroom activities, and motivating projects. We will focus on activities and lessons that will help you do your job more effectively and efficiently, and equally importantly, with great enjoyment. You will leave this seminar with multiple ways to ensure your students are motivated to use iPads and other digital tools and skills to increase their knowledge of the Common Core State Standards in reading.

I will show you how easily you can blend mobile and digital technology into your Common Core reading instruction. I am sure you will quickly observe the increase in your students’ excitement and motivation which in turn enables them to stay focused on their learning for a greater length of time. I have found that better learning and fewer discipline issues occur when I bring iPads and other digital tools to the classroom setting.

I look forward to meeting you at the seminar, and I am excited to share a collection of engaging activities created especially for students in grades 3-5 that you can immediately use upon your return to your classroom. I know you’ll enjoy being introduced to the amazing opportunities that mobile devices can provide.

Sincerely,
Kathy A. Sage

P.S. The focus for our day together will be on using iPads and other mobile devices to help your students meet and exceed the Common Core State Standards for reading in grades 3-5.
