Thank you for wanting to learn more about teaching and motivating students through the use of forensic science. In an effort to improve performance in life science and physical science, teachers are continually challenged to find new and interesting ways to engage students in these disciplines. Forensic science provides an innovative way to increase science literacy and connect the conceptual world to the real world.

Take your students on a journey that will capitalize on their natural fascination with solving "whodunits." I will show you how the traditional science concepts and skills can be delivered in a format that will show your students why literacy in scientific theory, experimentation and interpretation is valuable in the real world. As a classroom teacher I have used forensic science in many different science courses from physical science to advanced chemistry. The interest and results of these lessons led to the creation of a semester course in forensics. This course was featured on CBS Evening News as a model for explaining the explosion of interest in forensic science in grades 7-12 science classrooms. Not only is forensic science popular with the students, it is also aligned with the National Science Educational Standards.
